  I give them a 1 simply because they picked my dog up who ran out the front door and asked me had she had rabies shot I said no and they charge me the same price as a adopted dog 115. And she still doesn't have a rabies. I'm not blaming but if your going to charge me the same price of a adopted dog at least give her the vaccine.

  Very friendly and professional staff. They have one of the toughest jobs in the world. They are blessed right now to have some dedicated volunteers from "Friends of Rocky Mount Animal Shelter" and other groups that help to photograph and write descriptions of the animals. Always contact the animal shelters in your county, and surrounding counties if your pet(s) go missing. My phone calls have always been answered or returned promptly when I called to report a lost dog or cat. I have needed to call Animal Control once due to a threatening dog on our property that was blocking our exit on our steps, and they responded quickly, and were able to eventually reunite the (scared but large, growling) dog with his owner. They are very helpful and this is a necessary part of our community, because there are dogs and cats that are wandering, and in danger, and they have a chance if captured and brought into the shelter. Still, only "surrender" your pet to an animal shelter if you have really, really exhausted all other options. A surrendered animal has a very short timeframe before euthanization due to the limited space. Most online and newspaper classified offer free ads for this situation, and you should only adopt out to someone who has vet references so that you know your dog or cat will not end up as bait for dog fighters. If you have an unruly pet or a pet that wets the house, there are groups and programs that will help you with spay and neuter costs. Just check facebook.
