- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆The Most EXPENSIVE city to live in for utilities. For a city that is losing it's people, and that has a unusual amount of vacant spaces, houses, businesses, etc, the utilities are astronomical! I have lived in several states, and this by far was the most expensive! My average utility bill ran me over 450.00 a month!! They will not tell you what an average bill usages for a previous tenant prior to moving in to make sure you can budget correctly, since we were coming from out of state, we had no clue what to expect. They are Rude when you call, very curt, with no emotion. Sad, that we only lived in RM for 4 months. I could not wait to move and would never recommend anyone living there. - ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆They are showing signs of modernization, like an online user portal, and seem to be trying to make things more affordable. However, and I don't know if it's still the policy, but I had to appear in the office with my actual Social Security card to open an account. Since I was relocating from Ohio, I made a special trip to Rocky Mount almost entirely for the sake of turning on my utilities.By Tessa Weisenborn, February 08, 2017
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Have called the main number multiple times to ask a simple question. No one has yet to answer the phone even after being on hold for over ten minutes. I'm on hold AGAIN as I type this. Not only do they have the highest rates of any place I've lived, their customer service is the absolute worst. How can you provide customer service if you don't answer the phone? Some months ago I did get someone to answer the phone where I was forwarded to an answering machine. My calls was never returned. I would never have moved to Rocky Mount had I known I would get such lousy service for such high rates. If anyone is thinking of moving here, DON"T!!
